“We are not prisoners of an inevitable future, uncertainty makes us free.” – John Keynes, The General Theory
Countless times we dread the future for fear of what may or may not come. Anxious moments can be out of arm’s length, that we cannot yet bring into focus.
Fate acts upon whether we are able to receive the answers or outcomes that we seek. What lies ahead? The exhilaration of victory or the agony of failure? Only an unknown future holds the answer.
The uncertain future is a source of fear for so many but is a necessity of our individual freedom. If our future were already written for us to see today, we in fact would have no freedom over our lives, no free-will to make decisions of our own. A path chosen before life begins lacks the very liberty that all humans seek.
We need not fear the uncertainty laying beyond the horizon – but accept it as a symbol of freedom for all humankind. Without it a predetermined life would lack the intense emotions that uncertainty can inject into our souls. We would walk a mundane and melancholy existence until meeting the finality of our pre-written story.
So do not fear uncertainty, as it is your key to freedom. Not knowing what lies ahead is the source of energy that breathes life into us which cannot be mirrored by any other concoction on this planet.
Embrace uncertainty and you shall be free.
